Our History

The Guild was incorporated as a non-profit organization on March 1, 2005.  The purpose for starting our guild was to meet fellow quilters, have education opportunities and perform charity outreach; which remains our mission today!

The first Guild meeting was held at the Meadow Pointe Clubhouse in New Tampa.  The guild outgrew that room, so in 2008 we moved to the Willow Bend Community Church in Lutz.

For a brief period in 2011, the guild moved to the Lutz Community Center, and later that year we settled at the First Baptist Church.

In 2016, we relocated to the Compton Park Recreation Center in Tampa. Starting in 2021 we are moving the the Land O'Lakes Recreation Center in Land O'Lakes..

The Guild’s founder and first President was Darlene B. Griffin.

On March 1, 2008, CCQG held its first quilt show.  It was an outdoor show and the talk of the town.  It was held at USF’s Botanical Gardens.  The show was such a success we repeated the outdoor event at our second show on November 6, 2010. Our last major event October 22, 2016, we presented a Quilt Exhibit “The Art of Quilting” from October 22 – November 30, 2016. Held at the Octagon Arts Center in Clearwater our opening reception was on October 22. It was a beautiful venue on a fabulous Saturday afternoon.

From a membership of about a dozen quilters in 2005, the guild has grown to over 50  constituents.
